B&W photo: Older woman in hair curlers androgynous work clothes and canvas sneakers tending a wood stove with a tea-kettle on top. Behind her, a Singer treadle sewing machine stacked with four guitar cases. This is my great Aunt Ollie, sometime in the early 1970s. She didn't seem to like me very much for some reason, but I secretly admired her toughness, brashness, unfemininity and practical skills. She was a card-carrying union meatcutter, could play fat full bar chords on her Martin guitar with brutally high action, kill and clean a passel of squirrels for dinner, drink a case of Storz, smoke unfiltered Luckies and live with Uncle Woody, all in the same day.
I see some resemblance. :)
