Meet my latest lover ....

I'm so sorry for ignoring you guys. The Facebook universe glitter has had me sucked in to the extent of my attention span for written words, but I'm edging back into the blogoverse, i have too much to say. Sure, I'm still on FB, it's a good place to keep in touch with my 147 fans/friends/family members, but I can't really let the shit out over there, dig? But, if they DO find their way over here, well then that's OK, there is a content warning to get through after all. :)

Welcome. Have a beer, eh? Ninkasi. Definitely the Ninkasi.

So, the latest project has been turning cheap short scale basses into rock&roll juggernauts.
the latest was a "J Reynolds" $100 7/8 size cheapy I bought on Craigslist for ...... thirty bucks. Needed a few things.........strings, a nut, a knob, a pot........ so with the massive help of RH and BH  I turned it onto a tiny punchy peachy P-bass.
Kahler bridge and Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders...

and it needed a name. Much gnashing of orange and peach stuff, but the official name of this bass is ...............

Melba.

The Melbass.

My friend Mel, who is a bass player, contributed unconsciously to this meme. In Manthing we trust. :)

  3. It sounds AMAZING with the Seymour DUncans ... notice, no tone, knob volume straight thru, always on 11. A bit over bright, but compensation at the amp level is easy and the Geddyish growl is 2 ....and the overkill high-mass Kahler bridge...too funny. Peach Melba, the Melbass!

  5. Unless I can find someone to sub for me, I have a month-long date with Oliver! (the musical) through the first weekend in July. Everybody sing! "Oliver, Oliver, never before has a boy asked for more, he will rue the day somebody named him Ooolliverrrr!!!"
